iFreeze 09 – join us in launching the 2009 ADRA Appeal

The 2009 ADRA Appeal will commence on 8 August and finish on 5 September.

A spectacular public launch of the ADRA Appeal is being organized again this year. We plan to have 200 volunteer actors “freeze” on cue for four minutes at Darling Harbor, Sydney. The actors will be dressed to represent people in poverty. A four minute freeze will be broken by another group of volunteers – the “anti-freezers”, who will wear ADRA T-Shirts and “free” the frozen actors by touching them, illustrating that ADRA releases people from poverty. After being released, the “poor” will skip and jump for joy to music.

This is a fun family event. People of all ages are welcome to join in!

The following web sites provide an idea about what we plan to do.

iFreeze 09 participants meet at 2 PM under the sail on the eastern side of Tumbalong Park (south of IMAX Theatre) on Saturday afternoon, 1 August, 2009. “Freezes” will be staged at three locations throughout the afternoon. Should the general public wish to help ADRA release people from poverty, opportunities to donate will be provided at “freeze” sites.

The event will be filmed and used to promote the ADRA Appeal. Other media may also cover the launch.

At the conclusion a McDonald’s meal voucher will be provided.

Registration IS important as permission from the Sydney Harbor Foreshore Authority is contingent on GSC issuing identification tags …. And you may want to eat!
