Land Dedication

Once upon a time there was a tiny wooden church that blew over in a wind storm. The members propped it up just where it landed and continued worshipping there. Since 1893, Kellyville Church members have been worshipping in the district initially on President Road and more recently on Spurway Drive, Kellyville. After years of visioning and planning, Kellyville Church and Hills Adventist College, in a joint venture with Greater Sydney Conference (GSC), will be moving to Gum Nut Close, North Kellyville.

On Sabbath, 30 May, the cold weather and rain couldn’t dampen the enthusiasm of hundreds who came in support of Hills Adventist College and Kellyville Church as they participated in the dedication of the land.“The turning of the soil is the most
significant thing that we have done on the land. It showed the people, the community, the school, the church that we meant business and this is the beginning,” said Dr Alex Currie, associate pastor, Kellyville Church.

Pr David Blanch, president GSC, Pr Martin Vukmanic, senior pastor Kellyville Church, and Mr Greg Hinze principal, Hills Adventist College, asked God to bless the land, then they turned the soil, symbolising the opening of this significant new chapter. “The ceremony on the recently-acquired Kellyville property was a historic moment culminating long series of committees, plans and much prayer. I feel proud of our church and school plans for the future as they work together in serving the needs of the community,”
commented Pr David Blanch.

Part of the ceremony involved children putting flags in the ground at the centre of the property. “This gave the children an opportunity to express their vision of what they wanted their school to become,” said Mr Greg Hinze. “The children responded well and enjoyed doing it. It was thrilling to see hundreds of people there gathered to celebrate the historic occasion with the school, church and local community.”

This has been a journey of faith, and we are beginning to see the first signs of what God has in store for us in the future,” said Pr Martin Vukmanic. “We are anticipating huge possibilities, where Hills Adventist College will join together with our church to serve the wider community.”
